  ksTaskbar Vs. 1.0 - Updated 7/22/2007.

[freeware]

What is the ksTaskbar?
This is likely a program mostly for the "geeks". If you don't really consider yourself a geek, you may not find this tool easy to use or that useful. :) This is a program that I initially developed for my own needs, but realized that some of you may be looking for this exact same thing! I was getting tired of having too many icons on my desktop and waiting for the Start-Programs window to list all my programs. I wanted a way I could easily and quickly get to the programs and short-cuts I want, without having to click something and wait.

Alas - I build something to do this. This is a taskbar that you can size/resize, move to any side of your screen, and set to auto-hide. Yes, there's more - you can drag-and-drop short-cuts, files, pictures, just about anything you want. (It simply makes a copy of them in it's own temporary folder.) Now, you have EASY access to your favorite short-cuts and most-used files. Now, you can clean-up your desktop. :)

Tip: You'll want to first right-click the window and choose "Keep Open", while you're drag-and-dropping stuff to your the ksTaskbar. If you find this too challenging, you can also put short-cuts (or files) in the ksTemp folder that it creates. :)

I welcome your feedback and donations. :)

This runs on Windows 95, 98, NT, ME, Win2k, XP, or Vista.

  • Supports drag-and-drop of text, files, and short-cuts.
  • Allows you to customize the view style (right-click the window to see options).
  • Includes system tray support (right-click tray icon to see options).
  • Set it to auto-hide or always show.
  • Includes a rich text editor.
  • Includes a resize ruler, so you can hide the text editor if you want to.
  • No install (yet). It's coming soon...

Downloading and installing:
What you're downloading is the actual program. I haven't built an install or it, basically because it doens't really need one. Just save the file (by clicking the link below) and save it to a new folder (basically anywhere on your local system), and run it. Easy!
    Enjoy!
