Commercial Screen Savers - Good for Business

Why should your business have a Custom Screen Saver?
You want your message in front of your prospects and customers as they sit at their desks. You also want to tell the public about your new products or services. Custom screen savers are an exciting, new and fun medium of advertising, promotion, and entertainment.

You can use full-screen, colorful images - including use your company's favorite graphics, logos, product photos, animation, sounds, scrolling messages, slogans, etc.

You can advertise to your customers several times a day - without even knowing about it! Consider these questions:

  1. Do any of your customers use a computer?
  2. Are you in a High Tech business?
  3. Do you have a web-site?
  4. Do you want to keep your advertisements in front of your customers?
  5. Do you exhibit at trade shows?
  6. You have options - give away promotional screen savers, give away screen savers with purchases, and/or sell screen savers.

A screen saver is basically multimedia advertising. It can be as flashy, attractive and/or content-oriented as you like it to be. Multimedia components can include animations, logos, text, pictures, sound effects, and music clips. Colors can pop-off the screen even more so that they can on some products, such as mouse pads, brochures, newspaper advertisements, etc. For those customers who might work in environments around others, the likelihood of others seeing the screen saver is very likely.

Examples of how screen savers can be used:
    • A real-estate franchiser helps its franchisees by distributing a screen saver that covers specific terms of its business while displaying the logo with the product.
    • A brick company can help purchasing agents for construction companies by giving away a screen saver that shows photos of its bricks along with their names and best uses.
    • The above method could apply to any consumer or commercial product.
    • A consulting firm educates administrators of employee-benefit plans with a screen saver about investment and health-care options.
    • A medical (or dental) facility gives to its patients a screen saver that helps them better care for themselves, and that reminds them to get regular check-ups, etc.
Information & Stats about screen savers:
    • Almost 75% of users leave a screen saver running for more than a month.
    • Given a 20-business-day month and a screen saver can average a running about an hour per day, this implies that your customers will see your screen saver for an average of more than 15 hours per month.
    • If the only tie to your company in the screen saver is the company logo and this logo appears just once per minute, this is equivalent to approx. 900 logo impressions per customer per month.
    • Berkeley Systems, Inc. (makers of the infamous "After Dark" screen savers) have reported that Coca-Cola has significant pass-along percentages for custom screen savers. This is when others see the screen saver on your computer.
    • Easy and Inexpensive to ship.
    • High mark-up and low cost.
    • No inventory and easy to reproduce.
You may also want to ask your customers what they would like in a screen saver. Also, if you have high resource costs in your Customer Support area, it may be worthwhile to produce "supporting" information in these critical, high-support areas via providing helpful information in a screen saver.
